Our educators and writers have searched dictionaries and award-winning books to bring you these rich and colorful words to build your child’s vocabulary. These are not common Dolch or Fry words that we have in our reference section. These are flowery, saucy words, like tenacious, pomp and reminisce, to spice up their writing. Each worksheet contains 16 words, so take your time – have your student look up the words in their favorite dictionary, use them in their writings, post them on the fridge, or craft clever (or silly) sentences with them at dinner. After a couple of weeks, test their knowledge by having them match the meanings to their corresponding words on the worksheet. By starting with the meaning and matching to the word, we emulate the writing process – the student thinks of an idea and then retrieves the most fitting word from memory.
